Why Clean Energy is Important
The Benefits of Clean Energy
Clean energy has been misunderstood for a variety of reasons. Since most people’s only exposure to the concept of clean and renewable energy are solar panels, it is perceived to be the only option. Fortunately, there are several other options, including hydro and wind power, to power your home. There are also clean energy providers that can help you understand what’s available, and how it can benefit you.
Clean Energy is Cost Effective
The same things that you enjoy doing everyday are the things that you will enjoy doing when you switch to green energy, or incorporate it into your own energy supply. Even something as simple as using sunlight to read during the day and unplugging appliances when not in use can reduce the cost of your energy bills over time. Adding renewable energy just means that you are using less costly fossil fuels and using more sources that are automatically and naturally replenished. Imagine being able to spend your day playing video games on your huge television while drying clothes and running your dishwasher, and paying half of what you pay now. While that may not be your exact savings, you can expect to see a drop in the cost of powering your home with renewable energy. You will also be eligible for some tax incentives, and may be able to take home a little bit of money for doing nothing more than calling your utility company.
Fossil Fuels are Harmful to the Environment
The last couple of decades have seen more animal extinctions than the last few hundred years combined. With the world’s human population growing at an unprecedented rate, anima habitats are perpetually threatened by housing developments, pollution, and increased demand for animal products like meat, cheese, and animal hide for clothing. Pollution is one of the negative things about using fossil fuels. Burning fossil fuels releases harmful chemicals that sicken animals. Oil drilling can result in leaks and spills, harming and killing marine life, a source of food. In recent years, record-breaking storms have also happened as a result of global warming, a phenomenon directly linked to increased use of fossil fuels. With all of the sad consequences that come from fossil fuels that affect our environment, clean energy is a beacon of hope.
Fossil Fuels are Harmful to People
One would imagine that the detrimental effects of using fossil fuels on the planet would be enough to outlaw them, but there are also many devastating effects on humans. When animals that we eat are affected by pollution, we, too, are affected. Oil in fishes’ gills can end up on our plates. Smoggy air absorbed by plants gets into our salads and onto our sandwiches. Without even having to eat pollution, the instances of respiratory illnesses and diseases has skyrocketed since the widespread use of fossil fuels. Cancer cases have also risen. With the damage done to our bodies, our planet, and our chances and being and remaining beneficiaries, not victims, of strong weather, why not try to alleviate things that can make our lives harder? Making the switch to green energy can be a moral issue for some, but will make a better world for every living thing on Earth.
