Pretty Wind Energy Farms
A More Beautiful World with Wind Energy
Wind farms are a great way to harvest renewable energy. Wind turbines reach high into the sky, taking in the power of the wind. Gusts and breezes cause the blades of the turbine to rotate, spinning the interior shaft. As the shaft spins, it turns a mechanism that powers the generator, which then creates and stores power. Though the process sounds tedious, it takes seconds, and a verifiable windstorm means lots of extra power for the people who live in the area of a wind turbine, or a wind farm. Wind power can be integrated with traditional power that anyone can use on the grid, but it is also accessible if you decide to invest in a single turbine, which is capable of providing power to a number of busy homes.
Altamont Pass Wind Farm
Riding along the freeway in Livermore, California, on your way to San Francisco, you will see the Altamont Pass Wind Farm. Altamont Pass may be one of the most famous wind farms in the world. Turbines dot golden hills for miles and miles, turning lazily in the breeze, and rapidly when wind fronts sweep in from the nearby mountain range. Altamont Pass powers several thousand homes, and may offer power to many more in the coming years.
Mojave Wind Farm
Also called the Almont Energy Farm, this Kern County, California installation started as a project, and ended up becoming a source of power for many people. This beautiful farm stands in the middle of the Mojave desert, where there are plenty of opportunities to catch the high winds of the desert.
Big Horn Wind Farm
The Big Horn Wind Farm, or the Big Horn Wind Power Project, is a wind farm in Klickitat County, Washington. Green acres have wind turbines here and there, and the specific mission of lessening the state’s reliance on the coal-burning grid to power homes and businesses. The project has been a successful one, with many people seeing a reduction in the cost of their energy bills while making a greener world.
Muppandal Wind Farm
Just outside of the village of Muppandal, in Tamil Nadu, India, there is the Muppandal Wind Farm. The largest offshore wind farm outside of China, the Muppandal Wind Farm provides clean energy to the residents of the village, and do their part to make the world greener. As far as the eye can see, wind turbines spin like flowers on the water.
Sierra de Gredos
The European Union has quite a few wind farms. One of the prettiest wind farms in Europe is in Spain, in the Sierra de Grados Mountains. Dozens of wind turbines form a line that traces through the spaces between the mountain formations, making a visible-from-the-sky sprinkle of man-made glory. The people that live in and around the region benefit from the work done by the turbines.
Rampion Offshore Wind Project
Like the Muppandal Wind Farm, the Rampion Wind Farm is an offshore wind power project. Located in the English Channel, and visible from the land, the Rampion Wind Farm is as whimsical as it is practical. The wind farm has been successful, and is planning to expand within the next could of years, saving money for thousands of people.
