Green Energy and How to Slow Global Warming
The Future Belongs to You and Green Energy
It is everyone’s job to protect the planet, and doing so completely and thoroughly will make everyone more comfortable, and our homes and businesses better for the planet. It is a big undertaking, for sure, but it is important to do what we can to protect the planet from the continuing effects of global warming. Simply explained, global warming is a phenomenon that takes the recorded temperature of the earth throughout history, and compares it to current and projected future temperatures. Global warming is a concern because life evolved to withstand and thrive in normal temperatures, meaning, the temperatures that have been historically consistent, until about one hundred fifty years ago. Since then, average temperatures have steadily risen. If you’re ready to do your part to reduce waste and to protect the environment, here are some ideas of how to get started!
Solar Homes and Cars
Solar power is a powerful tool in the fight against global warming. Solar power, power derived from the sun’s own light, grows our food, and lights our day. Sunlight can also be captured, and transformed into electricity! It is estimated that enough sunlight hits the earth everyday to power every home in the world for a number of years. Accessing that power, however, involves the use of both solar panels, and of back-up generators. Making the switch to all solar power means that you will be without power at night, and using a generator will ensure that you can continue on with your regular activities. Even cars can benefit from solar power. Cars are known to contribute to global warming by burning fossil fuels. Using electric, or solar-powered cars is a great solution because you leave the pollution right where it belongs.
Wind Energy Buildings
Imagine your office building topped with a wind turbine. However awkward the placement may be, a wind-powered office building may be just the thing that your city could use to preserve natural resources. Wind energy is produced when a wind turbine spins in a gust, causing the interior shaft to rotate, spinning a dial that powers a generator. With this, electricity is produced, and it is almost always more than what a building needs. Because one can feasibly expect that the wind will always blow, wind energy is completely renewable, and easy to get.
Recycling and Upcycling
Everyone has known and understood the value of recycling for years. Recycling companies have been preaching the benefits of recycling to listening ears, and people have been doing better and better overall with separating and recycling their used containers. It is imperative that we continue down this track, but another eco-friendly contribution has recently come into style: upcycling. ‘Upcycling’ is an umbrella term that includes buying clothing from thrift stores, and using pallets to make furniture, instead of buying brand-new. Without the demand for the harvest and milling of raw materials, and the demand for brand-new furniture, the availability of new items, and the stress on the environment will be reduced.
