What Happens When You Choose Clean Energy
Clean’s the Name of the Game
Clean energy has been something that we’ve all needed to try for years now. What’s funny is that using clean energy doesn’t have to be a complicated, involved choice. When you ride your bike, even for a quick ride, you’re choosing clean energy. When you walk to a friend’s house, you’re choosing clean energy. Even if you go for a run around your block, you’ve chosen clean energy; your other options were to drive to the store, or to your friends, and to go to the gym. While there is certainly nothing wrong with utilizing your vehicle, you should always understand that little things can help you to consume less energy, and that you will feel better when you’re kinder to the planet.
You Save
Whether you do it in part, or in full, choosing clean energy is good for your wallet. Technological advances have enabled clean energy providers to offer clean energy at very low rates, often lower than the cost of using the traditional grid for all of your energy needs. Because of this, clean energy providers are able to pass these savings on to you, inspiring miles of smiles.
You’re None the Wiser
People tend to be concerned about losing power when they go green. While it is true that solar energy may not be available to use on cloudy days, it is unusual that someone is actually stranded in their own home, without power. The concern is understandable, but ultimately unfounded. If there is a cloudy day, because your power is only coming, in part, from clean energy, you will still have all of the power that you need to run your household. This means that you don’t have to be afraid to run your dishwasher, your laundry machine, or your dryer. You won’t run out of power, and you can stay up all night reading, if you’d like.
You Choose Clean Air
What the specific environmental benefits are to clean energy is something that could be take up a whole encyclopedia. Whether you consume a lot of energy, or a small amount, you are using power generated from burning fossil fuels. This usually happens at a centralized plant, and the power generated is converted, and sent out to a number of homes in a specified radius. These fossil fuels may be mined from a number of different sources, and many of them could be coming in from far away, meaning that fossil fuels are being burned, so that later, fossil fuels can be burned. While this has been the norm for years, the emergence of organizations like the EPA and other regulatory agencies has made clean air a mandatory part of living in the United States.
You Choose an Intact Planet
The mining of fossil fuels doesn’t just negatively impact the planet when they’re being burned. It makes a negative impact when they’re being mined for their use. Oil drilling is a controversial way of getting the oil needed to power traditional power grids, and has been steadily declining in its pervasiveness. Oil drilling is just one type of earth-draining source of energy, but making more opportunities for clean energy is making more opportunities to protect the planet on which we all live.
